Athletics

Athletics is a summer sport and students compete in Term One and Four.

The College has a long tradition of success at National level. 2007 saw the completion of the College IAAF Certified All Weather Track facility.

Students opting for Athletics are expected to train twice during the week and on Saturday mornings. Selected athletes compete at The Auckland Zone meeting, the Greater Auckland Championships, the North Island and National Secondary Schools Championships and from time to time King’s teams compete in Australia.

In recent times Hamish Thorpe, Dale Summerville, Kimberley Smith, April Brough, Ami Jo Mann, Paige Harwood and Ben Moynihan have represented New Zealand at either age group or senior level. Kimberley Smith represented New Zealand in the Marathon at the 2012 Olympics in London.
