Clay Target Shooting

Clay Target Shooting takes place in Terms One, Two and Three.  Coaching takes places two days per week and Sunday morning practice shoots for the competition teams are also organised from time to time.

King’s is fortunate to have the services of Mr Gavin Paton who has coached the New Zealand National team. Mr Paton coaches both competition and novice shooters.  New shooters may join the sport as space permits and do not have to own their own gun.

Charges for ammunition and targets are disbursed to parents throughout the season based on individual use.  There are two competition shoots per term and these take place on Thursdays at venues throughout the North Island.

King’s College has enjoyed considerable success at this sport, with the First Team winning the National Title in 2003 and being runners-up in 2008.  In recent years the King’s College girls team won the North Island title and have also placed 3rd in the South Island Championships.
